At Glenn Cleaning & Support Services, people are at the heart of everything we do. Not just our clients, but our team too. We know that our team makes all the difference, so we wanted to take a moment to celebrate them and introduce the people behind the business. That’s why we are launching our “Meet the Team” series. To kick things off, we spoke with our founder, Jason Glennon, to share the story behind Glenn, how the industry has evolved and what continues to drive us forward today.
The inspiration behind Glenn came from a simple belief: great cleaning is not just about spotless results, it is about people.
I could see that many companies in the industry were missing something essential. Clients were often treated like numbers, services felt generic and there was little sense of personal connection. I knew we could do better.
From day one, the goal was to create a business built on relationships, really getting to know each client, understanding their routines, preferences and expectations, then delivering a service that feels tailored rather than transactional.
We brought that vision to life by focusing on communication and care. Every client goes through a proper onboarding process, we take time to listen and we check in regularly. Just as importantly, we have built a team of people who genuinely care about their work and the people they support. That is what allows us to deliver exceptional service consistently.
The industry has changed dramatically over the years.
Technology has transformed the way cleaning is delivered. Tasks that were once entirely manual now benefit from automation and smart systems, from robotic equipment to data-driven cleaning schedules based on real-time information.
There has also been a major shift towards sustainability. The move away from harsh chemicals to eco-friendly products, along with smarter use of water and materials, has become a standard expectation rather than a bonus.
However, perhaps the biggest change is how cleaning is now viewed. It is no longer seen as purely cosmetic, it is a critical part of health and safety. The pandemic reinforced this and today high standards of hygiene and infection control are expected across all sectors.
At Glenn, we have embraced these changes by continuously evolving, investing in training and adopting new technologies where they add value. This ensures we stay aligned with both environmental best practice and rising client expectations.
For us, it comes down to how closely we work with our clients.
We maintain a low client-to-manager ratio, which means our managers genuinely understand the intricacies of each site and service. That level of attention allows us to be proactive rather than reactive.
Our managers are also deeply passionate about service delivery. It is not just about meeting expectations, it is about consistently exceeding them and building long-term trust.
It starts with being selective.
We have a robust recruitment process focused not just on skills but on values. We look for people who care about their work, their colleagues and our clients.
From there, it is about creating the right environment. We engage with our team at every level, making sure people feel heard, supported and valued. We also believe strongly in empowering our staff, giving them the trust and responsibility to take ownership of their roles.
When you get that culture right, people want to stay and grow with the business.
There are many projects we are proud of, but what stands out most is the longevity of our relationships.
We have customers, staff, and suppliers who have been with us for over 20 years. That kind of loyalty does not happen by accident, it is built on trust, consistency and mutual respect.
For me, that is the biggest measure of success.
Like many founders, one of the biggest challenges has been balancing growth while maintaining the high standards and personal service we are known for.
As the business grows, it becomes more complex, but that is also where strong systems, clear communication and the right people become critical.
It has taught me that you cannot do everything yourself. Building a capable team and trusting them is essential if you want the business to grow without losing what makes it special.
Both are playing a huge role in shaping the future.
Technology is helping us work smarter, improving efficiency, tracking performance and ensuring consistency across sites. At the same time, sustainability is influencing every decision we make, from the products we use to how we deliver our services.
Clients are more informed and more conscious than ever, and rightly so. Our role is to meet those expectations while continuing to deliver high-quality results.
First and foremost, put the customer at the centre of everything.
Service businesses live and die by their reputation. Make every customer feel known, valued and looked after. Listen more than you talk, ask the right questions, follow up regularly and resolve issues quickly and personally.
Secondly, focus on building relationships, not transactions. People do not just buy services, they buy trust. Long-term clients are the foundation of any successful service business.
Finally, invest in your team. Your staff are the service. Hire the right people, support them and create a culture where they feel valued.
If you get those three things right, everything else tends to follow.
