Behind the Scenes at Glenn: A Chat with Sales Director Patrick Lewis

Posted by Glenn Cleaning, April 28, 2026

At Glenn Cleaning & Support Services, great service doesn’t happen by accident, it comes from understanding what clients really need, anticipating challenges and delivering consistently.

As part of our Meet the Team series, we caught up with Sales Director Patrick Lewis to hear about his role, what clients are really looking for and how Glenn continues to raise the bar across every contract.

Tell us a bit about your role at Glenn. What does a typical day look like for you?

No two days are ever quite the same, and that’s part of what makes it exciting.

At its core, my role is about driving growth, building a strong pipeline and turning opportunities into long-term partnerships. That means shaping our sales strategy, leading tenders and making sure we’re winning the right work. Contracts where we can genuinely add value and maintain the high standards we’re known for.

It’s not just about numbers it’s about people too. Every conversation with a potential client is a chance to understand their priorities, uncover hidden pain points and show how Glenn can make cleaning one less thing for them to worry about.

What do you think really sets Glenn apart from other providers?

For me, it’s the way we approach service and the people behind it.

We’re not trying to be the cheapest option, because cheap often comes at the cost of quality. Instead, we focus on doing it right: well-trained, motivated teams, strong on-site supervision and proactive account management.

Our aim is simple: to remove cleaning as a problem for our clients, not give them something else to manage. When a client knows they can trust us to get it right every time, it makes everything else easier for them and for us.

The cleaning industry can be very price driven. How do you navigate that?

It’s one of the biggest challenges in the sector.

We take a clear and confident position that price reflects delivery. If you cut costs in the wrong places (labour, supervision, or equipment) that risk inevitably shows up later in quality, compliance, or client experience.

A big part of my job is helping clients see the true cost of cleaning, including the time and effort they might spend fixing a poorly managed service. Once that clicks, most clients understand why investing in the right team pays off in the long run.

When you first start working with a client, what issues do you tend to see?

There are some consistent themes.

Often, clients are frustrated by unclear schedules, inconsistent standards, not enough management presence and a lack of accountability. It’s not uncommon for them to be paying for more hours than they actually need, yet still not getting the right results.

Our approach is about resetting expectations, introducing clear schedules, structured supervision and a service that’s measurable and visible. By doing this, clients quickly see the difference between a contract that runs itself and one that constantly needs chasing.

How important is having the right management in place?

It makes all the difference.

Even the best teams need support and structure to perform consistently. Strong on-site supervision, regular quality checks and open communication with the client are what keep everything running smoothly. Without it, even experienced staff can struggle to maintain high standards day after day.

It’s also about relationships. Having a manager who knows the site, the client and the team makes a huge difference in catching small issues before they become problems.

You work across a range of sectors. Does your approach change much?

Absolutely, every environment has its own priorities, but the fundamentals stay the same.

In education, safeguarding and consistency are key. In healthcare, compliance and hygiene standards are absolutely critical. In commercial offices, flexibility and responsiveness often matter most.

We adapt how we deliver to each sector, but our goal remains the same: a service that is reliable, accountable, and professional every time.

What does a great client relationship look like to you?

Honestly, it’s when the client doesn’t have to think about cleaning anymore.

They trust that everything is being taken care of, and they can focus on running their business. There’s clear communication, mutual respect and a shared understanding of what “good” looks like.

That’s when you know you’ve gone beyond being a supplier, you’ve become a partner. And that’s exactly the type of relationship we aim to build.

Looking ahead, what are your priorities for the next 12 months?

It’s about growing thoughtfully and consistently.

We’re focused on building a disciplined, scalable sales engine that delivers the right opportunities, improves conversion rates and ensures every new contract reflects the standards and values we stand for.

At the same time, it’s about maintaining quality as we grow, because nothing undermines growth faster than letting standards slip. Balancing expansion with exceptional service is what keeps us moving forward confidently.
