Albany House Medical Centre provides services to over 18,000 patients and is a leading teaching and training Practice for both GP Registrars and Foundation Doctors. Glenn was awarded the contract to clean their modern premises, which includes minor operating facilities, in August 2013.
The Client’s Brief
Our Client wanted to ensure that the medical premises reached the standards of cleanliness set out in the most recent advisory notes from the National Patient Safety Agency and were compliant with the requirements of the Care Quality Commission. The Practice considered outstanding hygiene to be paramount to prevent cross-contamination and to play a vital role in infection control procedures.
How did we help?
We worked closely with the Practice Manager to agree and deliver a tailored healthcare cleaning plan based on the ‘National Specifications for Cleanliness in the NHS: Primary Care Medical and Dental Premises.’ The plan covered all areas within the practice and was tailored to ensure that the cleaning systems would meet the stringent standards that CQC demands.
Compliance with the cleaning plan and cleaning schedules is monitored by clear sign off procedures for each task and location. This in turn is regularly checked by our managers using state of the art electronic auditing system tailored specifically to meet the clinical requirements of the medical centre.
We recognized that the best cleaning plan and the most detailed cleaning specifications were only as good as the staff engaged to implement them. Careful staff selection, induction and training helped ensure that procedures were always correctly followed by motivated and enthusiastic staff who fully understood the importance of their role in complying with infection control procedures and their contribution to the fight against cross contamination.
